The heart and soul of AAF Asheville is its committees; these are the best opportunities to get involved. All our committees are recruiting more members, so don’t be shy. Contact the committee chair person to see how you can both give and receive.

Communication

Chair: Bri Labbate

These committee members work with the various other committees to promote AAF Asheville to the Western North Carolina region and media outlets, and these professionals stay on the lookout for innovative ways to send out key club information to our members. These team members manage the club's brand — develop collateral pieces in conjunction with the other committees, execute and maintain the AAFA website (which we're going to improve upon), photography at events, PR, oversee email blasts to members, social media...you get the idea.

American Advertising Awards

Chair: Marty Steinburg

martysteinberg11@gmail.com

The prestigious American Advertising Awards are a three-tiered creative competition run by our national affiliate, the American Advertising Federation (AAF). This competition is the ad industry’s equivalent of the Oscars. The competition starts at the local level, and winners then have the chance to advance to regional and national competitions. This committee handles all aspects of this first level of competition: collecting entries, securing judges, judging entries, creating a winners book, planning and hosting the awards gala, and forwarding entries to the next level of competition. Throughout all of these steps of the process, the committee keeps club members informed about the most current American Advertising Awards news. This is a HUGE undertaking, and many volunteers are needed. Jump in now and make a difference!

Education

Chair: Megan Jonas

meganmjonas@gmail.com

The committee works with students in WNC colleges and universities to provide educational, mentoring, and internship opportunities and encourages student participation in AAF programs and activities, including AAF membership, American Advertising Awards submissions, and team participation in the National Student Advertising Competition. These networking and learning opportunites help students to become engaged in the field and get a head start on their careers.

Government Relations

Chair: Jeff Joyce

jjoyce@ashevillechamber.org

Keeping our members informed about legislation and regulations affecting our industry and playing a role in shaping these policies is the responsibility of AAF Asheville's Government Relations committee.
